In the world of fine art, a limited edition print is a quality reproduction of an original work of art, published in finite or “Limited”quantity determined by the artist.
Ora’s “Limited Edition” is the finest quality recreation of the original oil painted art, not a cheap imitation made on a color copier. A limited edition print must be able to stand on its own as a work of art. Every limited edition print is checked, proofed, signed and numbered by the artist.
Giclee` is a French term, meaning, “spray of ink”. Giclee` prints employ tested archival oil-base inks. Individual droplets of color are sprayed on paper or canvas surface at the rate of 4 to 5 million droplets per second. (Once completed, the image is comprised of almost 20 billion droplets of ink, each measuring no more than 15 microns in diameter.)
The original oil painting is transformed to a print using sophisticated, state of the art, digital print technologies. The artist and printer collaborate making alteration to achieve a match. Prints can be produced on paper and on canvas.
The finished print is pulled off the drum and “finished” by applying Ultra Violet (UV) light retardant and light stabilizer post-coatings. Giclee’ prints on paper are printed on a high quality heavy water color paper. Giclee` canvases are stretched on stretcher bars like an original oil painting. The artist personally inspects and signs each print of the edition. Giclee` prints have an impressive record. They have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world. Ora’s Limited Edition Giclee` Prints are signed, numbered and certified.
Embellished Giclee’ prints on canvas
A Giclee’ print on canvas is “painted over” by the artist using oil paints.
